Or there’s ‘Skippered Hire’ which means a Severn Expeditions team member does the driving. That way, they do the work whilst, with a pre-ordered picnic and a glass of something, you and your party… have a party!

If fishing is your thing try a Severn Expeditions “Guided Fishing’ trip. Bespoke outings to your exact requirements are guided by expert anglers who won’t just steer you around but also give you tips. (There’s no guarantee that they’ll back you up with your stories of that huge one that got away).

Staying on the water,  but a bit more energetically, you might want to visit Upton Rowing Club. The club is a veritable institution in these parts. Rowing on the Severn stretches back forever and the club has been active since the 1830s.

With access to sixteen miles of the River Severn, between Worcester and Tewkesbury, the Upton Rowing Club welcomes all ages and abilities. If you’re an experienced rower interested in competing – that’s fine. Same applies if you’re simply looking for some recreational rowing. There are various levels of training available.

The club has a wide selection of boats and even has racking space for members to store their own boats.  The boathouse is actually at Upton Marina. Fabulous facilities for rowing, right on your doorstep.

When it comes to facilities you’ll love the Wheelhouse Bar & Restaurant. This absolutely delightful spot is right by the entrance of the marina and delivers pretty much everything you’d want.

Opening for breakfast time they serve snacks, meals and drinks all day until 9.00pm. With top quality food and a wide range of beverages it’s the perfect place to unwind, meet friends (you can even bring the dog!) and take in the views from the superb decking.

The restaurant is available for parties and functions, and has a large car park. There’s often live entertainment at the weekends.
